Teaching and Learning Podcasts (2019 Edition)

I have a book coming out later this year, and my press asked me for “specialized media” to whom they might send review copies. That sounds like podcasts to me! Since I’m compiling a list of podcasts that focus on teaching and learning in higher education for my publisher, I thought I would share that list here on the blog. See below for some great audio content for your commute to campus! Let me know if I missed any.

  • Teaching in Higher Ed, hosted by Bonni Stachowiak. Interviews with interesting and innovative educators, plus tips for faculty productivity. [RSS]
  • Educate, hosted by Stephen Smith. Produced by American Public Media, Educate covers K-12 and higher education. [RSS]
  • Tea for Teaching, hosted by John Kane and Rebecca Mushtare. More interviews with educators, from the teaching center at SUNY-Oswego. [RSS]
  • Let’s Talk Teaching, hosted by Jim Gee. Even more interviews with educators, from the teaching and technology center at Illinois State. [RSS]
  • Teach Better, hosted by Doug McKee and Edward O’Neill. Monthly conversations with teachers about teaching. [RSS]
  • The Teaching Online Podcast (TOPcast), hosted by Thomas Cavanagh and Kelvin Thompson. A podcast for online and blended learning professionals and coffee fans. [RSS]
  • Teaching, Learning, and Everything Else. A podcast produced by the teaching center at Xavier University of Louisiana since 2008! [RSS]
  • Two Profs in a Pod, hosted by Beth Eyres and Tenisha Baca. Produced out of the teaching center at Glendale Community College in Arizona. [RSS]
  • EdSurge Podcast, hosted by Jeffrey R. Young. Covering K-12 and higher ed with reporting by the team at EdSurge. [RSS]

  • We Teach Languages, hosted by Stacey M. Johnson. Focused on language teaching at all levels, this one is hosted by my Vanderbilt colleague Stacey. [RSS]
  • Leading Lines, hosted by me. Our edtech podcast explores “creative, intentional, and effective uses of technology to enhance student learning.” [RSS]

I’m sure you can search for these on your favorite podcast app, but I’ve included RSS feeds for each, so you can add them directly to your app. (And if your podcast app doesn’t allow you to add an RSS feed, then it’s not actually a podcast app.)
