Juggling

March and April have turned out to be very busy around here. I’m in the middle of three weekends in a row with the girls, thanks to them being with me for the entirety of spring break this year. I love spending time with them, but with everything on my plate at work these days (including a stack of midterms to grade), I’m having to do a lot of juggling! For instance, check out this five-day time span:

  • Friday – It was a half day of school for the girls, so I went into work, powered through a key meeting and teaching, then took off the rest of the day. It was great just chilling with the girls for the afternoon, but I stayed up until almost 1am catching up on work.
  • Today – After a lazy morning here around the condo, I’m heading to TEDxNashville for a little bit this afternoon. Today’s babysitter love arts and crafts, so the girls are pretty excited. Then tonight, more late night work if I have the stamina–probably those midterms.
  • Sunday – Church in the morning, then we’re heading to Target to buy bicycles for the girls. They have bikes at their mom’s house,  but not here, and with the weather warming up, I’d like to get the girls out of the house more. I’m also hoping I might get a little jogging in when the girls are with me, thanks to these bikes. It will depend on how good Lily is on a bike, I think! Sunday night: Lesson planning for class on Monday.
  • Monday – It’s spring break for the girls, but not for me. I teach at noon and have a day full of meetings. So Hannah’s going to aftercare (which turns into all-day-care on school breaks) and Lily’s going to her regular preschool.
  • Tuesday – No teaching for me, so I’m taking the day off work. We haven’t gone geocaching since last summer, so I think that’s what we’ll do on Tuesday. Last summer, Lily usually wimped out when we went off-road to find caches, but she’s pretty eager to give it another go now. Tuesday night: Lesson planning for class on Wednesday.

Such is my life for the next little while. Here’s hoping I can keep up the pace!
