The dataset that you’ll work with in class today comes from the Significant Earthquake Database run by the National Geophysical Data Center. Here’s the earthquakes2000.csv file you’ll use in class today. (That file contains NGDC information on all earthquakes since 2000.)

• Flowing Data Tutorials – See especially tutorials on bubble charts, treemaps, and heatmaps.
• OpenIntro Stats Labs – Our textbook has a few “labs” that include R tutorials. This one includes info on extracting a subset of a larger data set.
• Remember you can always type ? and the name of a command (like “?hist”) to see the help file on that command.
