Surya Bonaly 2nd |
Nicole Bobek 3rd |
Michelle Kwan 4th |
Kwan did so well that she placed ahead of Bobek in some of the judges opinions. This meant that some of those second place rankings that had put Bobek in second place overall now went to Kwan. This put Kwan in fourth and placed Bonaly ahead of Bobek. That's right -- Bobek and Bonaly switched places based solely on Kwan's performance. As in the 2000 Presidential election, two candidates relative placements were switched by the presence of a third candidate. Does that seem right to you? Shouldn't Bobek and Bonaly's relative rankings be independent of Kwan's performance? |
