A Few Clickers Resources

Before posting about classroom response systems resources created by others, I thought I would point out a few resources I’ve created.

• Clickers Teaching Guide – This is a brief guide to teaching with clickers I prepared a year or two ago for the Vanderbilt Center for Teaching.  It features descriptions of useful types of clicker questions and activities, suggestions for handling a few common challenges involved in teaching with clickers, and information about technical and logistical support for teaching with clickers at Vanderbilt.  I’m hoping to update this guide sometime this fall now that my book is complete.
• Clickers Bibliography – Here’s a bibliography on classroom response systems that I update regularly.  Most of the articles present some form of research on the effectiveness or impact of classroom response systems on student learning.  Articles at the top of the page are not discipline-specific and include literature reviews, research articles on student perceptions of clickers, and articles comparing clicker vendors and discussing adoption issues.  Articles further down the page are discipline-specific and are grouped by discipline, making it easy for someone to find articles on the use of clickers in a particular discipline, e.g. mathematics or psychology.
• Webinar: “Classroom Response Systems: Teaching with Clickers” – Here’s the first of two webinars I’ve facilitated as part of the TLT Group‘s FridayLive series.  These webinars featured slides + audio presentations from me (and a fellow presenter in one case), as well as interaction and backchannel discussion with participants via text chat.  Follow the links here to these webinars for archived versions that you can replay in their entirety.  This first webinar, presented in November 2007, focused on useful types of questions to ask in class with clickers.
• Webinar: “Clickers as Tools for Engagement: Removing ‘Cloaks of Invisibility'” – This is the second FridayLive! webinar I’ve facilitated.  This second webinar, presented in March 2008, focused on ways to use clickers to engage students in class.
• Article: “Clickers: A Classroom Innovation” – Here’s an article I wrote on teaching with clickers that appeared in the October 2007 issue of the National Education Association’s Advocate newsletter as part of the “Thriving in Academe” section co-sponsored by the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network.
